The North Smithfield Northmen will head out on the road to square off against the Central Falls Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. North Smithfield is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, North Smithfield faced the Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. North Smithfield skirted past the Cougars 40-37. The win was just what North Smithfield needed coming off of a 47-19 loss in their prior game.
Bryson Murray was a one-man wrecking crew for North Smithfield as she scored 16 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Kate Zonin, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Central Falls' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 57-42 bruising from Lincoln. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central Falls in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.
North Smithfield now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Central Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
North Smithfield strolled past the Warriors in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 by a score of 54-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Smithfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
