East Lyme and Waterford are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. After each having a week off, both teams will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (East Lyme is ranked 93rd, while Waterford is ranked 118th).
East Lyme's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 34-17 to Fitch. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Lyme in their matchups with Fitch: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, East Lyme got a solid performance out of Aidan Patterson, who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown. Patterson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Meanwhile, Waterford had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Bacon Academy with a 35-29 win on Friday. The win was just what Waterford needed coming off of a 54-33 loss in their prior match.
Waterford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jax Higgins led the charge by rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. Brady Sutman and his 133 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Waterford's win.
Fitch's victory bumped their season record to 8-1 while East Lyme's loss dropped theirs to 4-5.
East Lyme ended up a good deal behind Waterford in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, losing 42-28. Thankfully for East Lyme, Nathan Hynes (who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
