The Leadore Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 64-39 defeat at the hands of Rockland. That's two games in a row now that Leadore has lost by exactly 25 points.
Leadore lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mason Herbst, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Herbst is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Taylor Ayers was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Leadore has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Rockland, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leadore will take on Salmon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockland won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Richfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Richfield is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
