The Axtell Wildcats gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 52-43 victory over Pleasanton. That's another feather in the cap for Axtell, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Axtell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Bergstrom out in front who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Carson Lindau, who scored 14 points.
Axtell's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pleasanton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Axtell will head out on the road to face off against Bertrand at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bertrand focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. As for Pleasanton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arcadia/Loup City on Friday.
