Barrington is 6-0 against Classical since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Barrington Eagles will be playing at home against the Classical Purples at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Barrington has 12 straight wins, Classical has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Barrington earned a 51-40 win over Rogers. Given Barrington's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Rogers is ranked 47th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Isys Dunphy was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gill, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Classical ended up a good deal behind Ponaganset on Tuesday and lost 53-39. Classical has not had much luck with Ponaganset recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Barrington pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Classical, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Barrington beat Classical 48-38 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Barrington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Classical turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
