Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Garber

Garber waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Birch Run Panthers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The contest marked the Dukes' most dominant win of the season.

Alex Mularz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Mularz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Garber let Anthony Solinski and Nathan Foret run wild. Solinski went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Foret went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Foret is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Brey, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Garber always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Garber pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Birch Run, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garber will face off against Hemlock at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dukes will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Birch Run, they are taking a road trip to challenge New Lothrop at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
