Holmes is 0-7 against Brennan since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Holmes Huskies will be playing at home against the Brennan Bears at 2:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Holmes: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Brennan has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 36-6, which was the final score in Holmes' tilt against Taft on Friday. While losing is never fun, Holmes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 849th, while Taft is ranked 266th).
Meanwhile, Brennan put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Sotomayor 38-7 at home. Brennan pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Sotomayor had little chance of recovering from.
Brennan found their leader in underclassman Micai Thompson, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Brennan also got help from Brandon Wells who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.
Taft's victory bumped their season record to 6-2 while Holmes' defeat dropped theirs to 1-7.
Holmes was dealt a bruising 56-14 loss at the hands of Brennan in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Holmes have more luck at home instead of on the road?
