Basketball Recap: Northside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Northside waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Russell County Warriors by a score of 65-55. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Patriots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 308th in Georgia, while the Warriors are ranked 104th in Alabama).

Northside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Davies led the charge by putting up 17 points along with seven steals and five assists. Davies' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cinque Hodge, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Despite the defeat, Russell County had strong showings from Tamijay Mackey, who posted 18 points, and Kingston Henry, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Antonio Lockhart was another key player, posting four points and seven assists.

Northside pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Russell County, they moved to 8-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Northside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-30 defeat against Griffin on the 17th. As for Russell County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-51 victory against Chattahoochee County on the 17th.
