Homewood-Flossmoor hasn't had much luck against Lincoln-Way Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings will host the Knights at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Homewood-Flossmoor will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Andrew, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Thunderbolts on Friday, sneaking past 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.
Kaylee Vitolka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Demi Chaney, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elodie Sullivan, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
On Monday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Lincoln-Way Central had just enough and edged out Marist 3-2. The victory was just business as usual for the Knights, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
Lincoln-Way Central also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lisabella Dimitrijevic gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Kayla Doerre was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Lincoln-Way Central pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Homewood-Flossmoor hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lincoln-Way Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Homewood-Flossmoor might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Lincoln-Way Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024.
