Mason Stiffler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Middletown got a massive performance out of Jacob Miller, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Miller also put up a home run, which was his first of the season. Landon Cochran was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Middletown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastern York, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past York Suburban 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Golden Knights in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won six in a row.
Quinn Bramble was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Eastern York is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-8 otherwise. Bramble was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Braylon Mills was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brock Adams, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Middletown's record now sits at 6-3. As for Eastern York, their record is now 4-9.
Eastern York's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Middletown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. It's a different story for Eastern York, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Middletown's hitters?
