After a string of eight wins, the High Point Academy Grizzlies's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They suffered a tough 51-31 loss at the hands of Timberland.
Despite the loss, High Point Academy still got an impressive performance from Chantel Lyles, who scored 16 points. The matchup was Lyles' tenth in a row with at least ten points. Brooke Caraway was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
High Point Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Timberland, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.
High Point Academy and R-S Central will face off at 9:30 a.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. R-S Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 484th in North Carolina, while High Point Academy is ranked 103rd in South Carolina). Timberland will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cane Bay at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
