The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 59-23 victory over Chamberlain. With Clearwater Central Catholic ahead 34-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Taylor Bedinghaus had a dynamite game for Clearwater Central Catholic, scoring 24 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Benoit, who scored 11 points.
Chamberlain's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jesenia Rodriguez, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Dejesus, who scored 7 points.
Clearwater Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Chamberlain, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clearwater Central Catholic will challenge Berkeley Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chamberlain, they will head out on the road to face off against Strawberry Crest at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
