The Basic Wolves and the Sunny Hills Lancers will face off at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Basic's tournament run continued when they took on Service on Monday. The Wolves were outmatched by the Cougars and fell 79-50.

Despite the defeat, Basic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore TJ Edmond dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Edmond is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last six games he's played. Hudson Yakubik was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six assists and five boards.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 63 points the game before, Sunny Hills was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They took a blow against Federal Way, falling 68-29. The game marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Despite the loss, Sunny Hills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Immanuel Lin went 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points. Lin also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 86%. Another player making a difference was Pierrce Sandle, who posted nine points.
Basic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Sunny Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Basic has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sunny Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Basic came up short against Sunny Hills when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 62-52. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
