The Clarksville Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rossview and snuck past 71-69. The win was all the more spectacular given Clarksville's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Rossview is ranked 45th).
Clarksville was led to victory by Kellen J howard and Sheldon Huber. J howard scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Huber scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Smith, who scored eight points.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameryn Ward, who scored 18 points along with seven assists. Landon Hankemeier was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Clarksville and bumps their season record up to 6-10. As for Rossview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Clarksville will be playing at home against Kirkwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Kirkwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests. As for Rossview, they will head out on the road to take on Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeast is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
