The LaFayette Bulldogs came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Horseshoe Bend by a score of 69-56. Given LaFayette's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Horseshoe Bend is ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead LaFayette to victory, but perhaps none more so than Branaviyun Story, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Vaderrian Story, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five steals.
LaFayette's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Horseshoe Bend, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
LaFayette will take on Notasulga at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Horseshoe Bend won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Randolph County at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
