Nolyn Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Lanesville: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Payne, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Jeremy Guffey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Lanesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but North Harrison ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Salem 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.
Lanesville's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for North Harrison, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Lanesville might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from North Harrison in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
