The Arizona College Prep Knights will face off against the Centennial Coyotes at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Arizona College Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Arizona College Prep's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Vista Grande as Arizona College Prep made off with an 11-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Arizona College Prep got a great performance from Clayton Nachman as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Jaden Guglielmo was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Austin Longfellow was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Arizona College Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centennial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Alhambra 7-6.
The team relied heavily on Bobby Villa III, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Liu Rodriguez Jr, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Centennial's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Arizona College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Centennial's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arizona College Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Centennial, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Arizona College Prep's sizable advantage in that area, Centennial will need to find a way to close that gap.
