Baseball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Cave Spring's Winning Streak

If Cave Spring was feeling good fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Patrick Henry on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell 4-1 to the Christiansburg Blue Demons on Friday. The Knights were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Blue Demons' pitchers proved too tough.

Cave Spring saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Meinster, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Cave Spring moved to 9-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Christiansburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

The Knights are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Bruins an eight-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. Meanwhile, Christiansburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
