There's no place like home for The China Spring Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They took down Life Waxahachie 68-51 on Friday. Given China Spring's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Life Waxahachie is ranked 864th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Life Waxahachie's loss came despite strong showings from Kordell Berry and James Hicks. Berry rushed for 270 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, while Hicks rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Hicks' longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
China Spring is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Life Waxahachie, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
China Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Life Waxahachie will be playing at home against Alvarado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Alvarado is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
