The St. Raphael Academy Saints will face off against the Barrington Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Raphael Academy comes in on three and Barrington on four.
St. Raphael Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Ponaganset, who was ranked 21st at the time (St. Raphael Academy was ranked sixth). The Saints won by a run and slipped past the Chieftains 3-2. While the Saints didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Isabella Sousa was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Sousa wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaliyah De Los Santos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Sophie Roman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Barrington got the win against South Kingstown on Thursday by a conclusive 10-3. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kendall Fisher (2025) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maya Etheridge (2026), who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Aislinn McCoy (2025) was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
St. Raphael Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Barrington, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. St. Raphael Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Barrington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
St. Raphael Academy took their victory against Barrington in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
