Western has gone a perfect 3-0 against Oak Hill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Western has eight straight victories, Oak Hill has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Western barely beat West Lafayette the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Devils an 8-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Nobody will forget Lucy George's heroic performance anytime soon (especially West Lafayette's batters): she turned in a perfect game. George has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jocelyn Jeffers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brynley Erb, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Western kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.
Oak Hill couldn't beat Southwood on Saturday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Knights by a score of 11-10.
Ryleigh Myers and Ericah Emery stepped up to the plate in a big way. Myers went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Emery went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolee Hawkins, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Western's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Oak Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Western hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Oak Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Western's way against Oak Hill in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Western made off with a 13-3 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
