The Meridian Mustangs's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They secured a 44-40 W over Deshler. For Meridian, this counts as revenge for the 46-21 defeat Deshler walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Deshler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Easton Nash, who scored 14 points. Nash scored a full 35% of Deshler's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carson Sieber, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meridian's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Deshler, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Meridian will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewiston on Tuesday. Hopefully Lewiston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday. As for Deshler, they will head out on the road to face off against Shelton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
