The victory was all the more spectacular given Concord Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Northside Christian Academy is ranked 23rd).
Concord Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sean Birmingham, who scored 19 points along with four steals and three blocks. Birmingham has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Andre Rudy, who scored 15 points.
Concord Academy's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-14. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Northside Christian Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-10 record this season.
