In what's become a running theme this season, the Northampton County Jaguars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 69-13 win over Southeast Halifax. Winning may never get old, but Northampton County sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Northampton County had a senior duo take command as Michaela Hodge dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds and Amya Harmon dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Hodge is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kyra Vincent was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southeast Halifax struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northampton County racked up 12 assists.
Northampton County is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Southeast Halifax, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northampton County will take on North Edgecombe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northampton County is on a three-game streak of home wins, North Edgecombe a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Southeast Halifax will take on Nash Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Southeast Halifax focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
