The Bishop's Knights will venture away from home to take on the Escondido Charter Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop's is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Bishop's and Santa Fe Christian had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Knights walked away with a 6-2 win over the Eagles on Thursday. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Eagles on their field since March 19, 2019.
Sydney Mafong spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayla Stafford, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jessica Yao was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, Escondido Charter entered their contest against Coastal Academy on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tigers fell just short of the Stingrays by a score of 6-5.
Escondido Charter also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lilly Harper gave up four earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Mariana Bedolla was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Selena Salas, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Escondido Charter's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 16-4. As for Bishop's, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Bishop's hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Escondido Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bishop's suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Escondido Charter in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
