Softball Recap: Westmont Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Westmont entered their tilt with Bulls College Prep on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Bulls with a sharp 19-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won six matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Desaree Shobutte made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Shobutte was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cate Jackson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Kelsey Kyles also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Westmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bulls College Prep only managed five hits.

Westmont's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Bulls College Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Westmont will welcome Cristo Rey Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bulls College Prep, they will head out to take on Chicago Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
