The Jim Hill Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 61-52 to Hattiesburg. While losing is never fun, Jim Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Hattiesburg is ranked 13th).
Hattiesburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Burns, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Burns' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Tristen Keys was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Jim Hill bumped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Hattiesburg, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jim Hill will face off against Forest Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hattiesburg won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hancock at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. One thing working in Hancock's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
