The Southland Eagles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on Wilson with a sharp 55-33 victory. The win was just what Southland needed coming off of a 57-15 loss in their prior match.
Wilson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calvin Sims, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 45.5% of Wilson's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Valdez, who scored two points along with four steals.
Southland's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. As for Wilson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.
Southland will face off against Crosbyton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lorenzo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Lorenzo's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
