The Mt. Hope Huskies will head out to challenge the Tiverton Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mt. Hope is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Woonsocket on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Huskies not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 21, 2024 (when they won 12-2).
Madison Andrews spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Waddell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Haberman, who earned one RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Tiverton strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Middletown get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.
Lia Doster made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Sadie Pickering was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sara Poland, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Tiverton pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Mt. Hope, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Mt. Hope took their win against Tiverton when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
