The Southport Cardinals had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Terre Haute North Vigo 47-45. The victory was just what Southport needed coming off of a 61-20 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southport to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Nguyen, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorelei bennett, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Southport's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-15. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they bumped their record down to 5-15 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southport will take on Whiteland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whiteland has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marshall at 6:30 p.m.
