Baseball Game Preview: Monarch Knights vs. South Plantation Paladins

Monarch has gone a perfect 3-0 against South Plantation recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Monarch will head out on the road to take on South Plantation at 3:45 p.m. Monarch has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monarch lost 11-1 to Dr. Joaquin Garcia on Monday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monarch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert Brown, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, South Plantation was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Coral Springs Charter, falling 23-17. Even though they lost, the Paladins' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Noah Robaina and John McDevitt stepped up to the plate in a big way. Robaina went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while McDevitt fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. McDevitt also scored two runs, which is notable because South Plantation is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ethan Gaskin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, South Plantation kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.6.

Monarch's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for South Plantation, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Everything went Monarch's way against South Plantation when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Monarch made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monarch since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
