Deep Run has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Glen Allen Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Deep Run focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.
Last Friday, Deep Run didn't have too much trouble with Thomas Jefferson at home as they won 53-38.
Deep Run's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quentin Morgan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kemji Onyiuke, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Glen Allen's four-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-44 victory over J.R. Tucker. Given Glen Allen's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while J.R. Tucker is ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Deep Run's record is now 6-7. Glen Allen's record is now 8-6.
Deep Run ended up a good deal behind Glen Allen when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 70-54. Can Deep Run avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
