The Miamisburg Vikings will head out to square off against the Lebanon Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Miamisburg has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Miamisburg couldn't beat Springboro on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Vikings lost 12-5 to the Panthers. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Miamisburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Craiglow, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Craiglow's first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lebanon). Everything went their way against Little Miami on Friday as they made off with a 17-4 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.
Cam Coleman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Vincent Strickland was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Lebanon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Little Miami only posted an OBP of .400.
Lebanon pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Miamisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Miamisburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lebanon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Miamisburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Lebanon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
