Mountain View is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the Heritage Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. Mountain View's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Mountain View and Skyview have met, but the home crowd finally got their W back in March. The Thunder lost 18-2 to the Storm.
Mountain View saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Lalande, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Heritage hadn't done well against Battle Ground recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Timberwolves had just enough and edged out the Tigers 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Veronica Ayala was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Ayala was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs.
In other batting news, Jaila Ellis was excellent, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rayanna Jirsa, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs.
Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Battle Ground only managed five.
Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mountain View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .502. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Heritage in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Thunder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
