The Marcellus Wildcats will face off against the Bangor Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Marcellus is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on White Pigeon with a sharp 21-14 win on Monday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Chiefs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Marcellus let Kerrianne O'Donnell and Hannah Sharp run wild. O'Donnell scored five runs and stole a base while going 3-for-6, while Sharp went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. With that strong performance, O'Donnell is now averaging an impressive 2.5 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Makynna Harrison, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Marcellus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bangor entered their tilt with Comstock on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Colts. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
Isabelle Horvath made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Lily Sugden and Kylie Withey did most of the damage at the plate: Sugden scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Withey scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Withey has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Wisniewski, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Bangor's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Marcellus, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both Marcellus and Bangor just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12 hits per game. However, it's not like Bangor struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marcellus came up short against Bangor in their previous matchup on Saturday, falling 8-3. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
