Giles County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Brainerd Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Giles County's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven games.
Giles County can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sequatchie County 41-7 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Giles County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zori Randolph, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Randolph was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards. Another player making a difference was Kamauri A turner, who gained 128 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Giles County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Sequatchie County's QB won't forget Caleb Oates anytime soon given Oates sacked him five times.
Meanwhile, Brainerd gave up the first points last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 22-14 win over Sweetwater. The victory was just what Brainerd needed coming off of a 49-20 defeat in their prior matchup.
Giles County's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.8 points per game. As for Brainerd, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6.
Everything came up roses for Giles County against Brainerd in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 46-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Giles County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
