Stone has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the East Central Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Stone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Stone gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Poplarville 63-30 at home. Given Stone's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Poplarville is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stone got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jabori Moye out in front who scored 13 points along with nine assists and five steals. Moye continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ray Dennis, who scored 22 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, East Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by Laurel on the road and fell 89-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss East Central has suffered yet this season.
Stone has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for East Central, they bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Stone against East Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 67-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stone since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
