East Wake has gone a perfect 8-0 against Fike recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. East Wake will be playing in front of their home fans against Fike at 4:00 p.m. East Wake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, East Wake made easy work of Hunt and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win continues a trend for East Wake in their matchups with Hunt: they've now won four in a row.
Jaimee Fowler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fowler was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, East Wake got a massive performance out of Madison Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Alissa Flood, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.
East Wake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Fike came up short against Northern Nash on Monday, falling 8-2. The Demons haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Like East Wake, Fike also got a great game from a two-way player: Gracie Vincent. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Vincent was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
Vincent wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leyla Lopez, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Fike's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for East Wake, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
East Wake took their win against Fike when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Does East Wake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fike turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
