Baseball Recap: Bishop LeBlond Gets the Win

Bishop LeBlond proved they can win big on Monday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cameron Dragons 3-1. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 5-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jake Winkelbauer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Bishop LeBlond's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't).

The victory got Bishop LeBlond back to even at 12-12. As for Cameron, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Bishop LeBlond and Cameron could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Eagles will take on Savannah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (298 vs. 81). Meanwhile, Cameron (ranked 343rd) will meet Maysville (ranked 129th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
