The Woodgrove Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Broad Run Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Woodgrove will be strutting in after a win while Broad Run will be coming in after a defeat.
Woodgrove can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Park View 72-30 at home. Given Woodgrove's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Park View is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Broad Run pushed their score all the way to 69 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Loudoun Valley by a score of 71-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (68), Broad Run still had to take the loss.
Woodgrove's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.9 points per game. As for Broad Run, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Woodgrove came out on top in a nail-biter against Broad Run in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 64-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodgrove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
