Batavia has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the New Richmond Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Batavia will be strutting in after a win while New Richmond will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Batavia has not done well against Mariemont recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Batavia snuck past Mariemont with a 57-53 win.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-30, which was the final score in New Richmond's tilt against Goshen on Monday. New Richmond has not had much luck with Goshen recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, New Richmond had strong showings from Kiera Kirk, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds, and Sydney Miller, who scored 5 points along with 8 rebounds. Kirk scored a full 36.7% of New Richmond's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Batavia now has a winning record of 2-1. As for New Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Batavia strolled past New Richmond in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 50-31. Will Batavia repeat their success, or does New Richmond have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
