The Thales Academy Apex Titans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They suffered a rough 89-67 defeat at the hands of Grace Christian. Thales Academy Apex has not had much luck with Grace Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justin Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Rachmuth, who scored 25 points.
Even though they lost, Thales Academy Apex were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grace Christian only racked up 22.
Leading Grace Christian to victory were Nate Jones and Ma'Kyi Butler. Jones scored 17 points along with 3 steals, while Butler scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The match was Butler's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Jacques, who scored 14 points.
The last time Thales Academy Apex won on the road was back on Thursday. Having now lost five straight away contests, they've bumped their record down to 4-11. As for Grace Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.
Thales Academy Apex will be home for the holidays to greet St. Thomas More Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grace Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against The Burlington School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Burlington School has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 941 points over their last 13 matchups.
