The Mt. Pleasant Tigers lost against the Giles County Bobcats back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Giles County. While losing is never fun, Mt. Pleasant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Giles County is ranked 119th).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jakyri McClure, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hayden Holt, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Mt. Pleasant struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mt. Pleasant bumped their record down to 5-3 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Giles County, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will be home for the holidays to greet Hughes at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Giles County will be home for the holidays to greet Forrest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
