For the first time this season, Forest Hill will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to face off against the George County Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Forest Hill's offense. They lost 6-0 to Canton last Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
Forest Hill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charles Barry Jr., who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Barry Jr. is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Jeremiah Wright also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask George County). They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over Vancleave on Saturday. The Rebels not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 5, 2025 (when they won 11-1).
George County also got a great performance from Chandler Cameron as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Grant Reeves was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Cooper Ward was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
George County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
The victory was the third in a row for George County, bringing their record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Forest Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Forest Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like George County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
