While it was all tied up 26-26 at halftime, the DSST: Cedar Falcons were not quite the DSST: College View Wolves's equal in the second half on Monday. DSST: Cedar fell 67-58 to the Wolves. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
DSST: Cedar's loss came despite strong showings from Matthew Stophel and Ilyas Elmi. Stophel scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Elmi scored 15 points along with eight assists and five steals. It was the first time this season that Elmi posted eight or more assists. Mathew Cruz was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
DSST: College View was led to victory by Craig Johnson and Isaias Tomita. Johnson scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Tomita scored 17 points along with five steals. Tomita is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Sandoval, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
DSST: Cedar are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10. As for DSST: College View, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DSST: Cedar will take on the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Aurora West College Prep Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for DSST: College View, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Raptors at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully DSST: Green Valley Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Friday.
