The Middletown Islanders were the 78-67 winner over the Tolman Tigers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Middletown fell 55-47 to Tolman on Friday. While losing is never fun, Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Tolman is ranked fourth).
Tolman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniel Saulsby, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Saulsby hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Malik Gelinas was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Middletown bumped their record down to 4-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Tolman, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middletown will take on Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tolman, they will be playing at home against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
