Woodlawn is 1-9 against Shades Valley since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Woodlawn Colonels will head out on the road to challenge the Shades Valley Mounties at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Woodlawn has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while Shades Valley will arrive with four straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Woodlawn ended up a good deal behind Pell City and lost 49-32. While losing is never fun, Woodlawn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Pell City is ranked 83rd).
Shades Valley posted their closest win since November 20, 2023 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pell City 49-46. 49 seems to be a good number for Shades Valley as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Woodlawn's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Shades Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season.
Woodlawn couldn't quite finish off Shades Valley in their previous meeting on January 5th and fell 40-38. Can Woodlawn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
