The Channel Islands Raiders lost against the Carpinteria Warriors back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Channel Islands falling 53-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points they have scored all season.
Channel Islands lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Angel Avila, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Fernandez, who scored eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Channel Islands and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Carpinteria, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Channel Islands' road trip will continue as they head out to face Nordhoff at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. As for Carpinteria, they will take on Fillmore at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fillmore is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
