The Taylorsville Warriors proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 50) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 win over West Jordan. With that win, Taylorsville brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Marlee Reupena continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Wolfgramm, who scored 11 points.
West Jordan's loss came despite strong showings from Giselle Muffet and Rochelle Afo Manuma. Muffet scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Afo Manuma dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Afo Manuma is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Knight, who scored nine points.
Taylorsville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for West Jordan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taylorsville will take on Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Hunter is ranked 74th, while Taylorsville is ranked 73rd). As for West Jordan, they will play host again and welcome Cyprus, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cyprus is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
