The Cardinal Newman Crusaders entered their tilt with the John Carroll Catholic Rams with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Cardinal Newman sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 23-21 win over the Rams on Monday.
Cardinal Newman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace George led the charge by scoring eight points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Kent, who scored five points along with seven blocks and six rebounds.
Cardinal Newman's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. As for John Carroll Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
Cardinal Newman will take on the Spartans at TBD on Wednesday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kaeley Ciceron and Alysha Fenelus. John Carroll Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
